what i loved today.

✮ finding out that i got a C in Physics(!!)
✮ writing an essay for my Literature class in about an hour -- now i just have to handwrite it, hand it in, and i'm done! =) (i'm thinking of posting the translation of the essay on here, as well? if i have the time)
✮ these lovely photos:

what i loved yesterday.

i was pretty busy yesterday, and when i wasn't then, i was either sleeping or watching films on TV (had a kind of a movie-night by myself last night, hehe).
so this is yesterday's list:

✮ my mum ♥ (not that i wouldn' t love her on a daily-basis!)
✮ this new cafĂ© we went to celebrate Mothers' Day yesterday -- so pretty and lovely and flowery, and i just wanted it ALL to myself! i should've taken my camera... and i'm thinking of calling there to see if they need new waitresses for the summer ~.~
✮ Mystery Train -- such an awesome movie! everyone should see it; i loved the first segment best (Japanese-lover like i am, hehe)
✮ Control -- i'm a big Joy Division fan, and this was a really good movie portraying Ian Curtis' life (although very sad..)
✮ afternoon naps

people-watching...

do you like to people-watch?
what are you favourite places for doing it?
do you make up stories about the people you watch, and do you write them down?

pictures filled with wonder...

i think it's time for an inspiration post. don't you?

what i loved today.

✮ finding out that i got an A in Latin =)
✮ Psychology class - i always love Psychology, and can't get how some people don't think of it as interesting, when, in my opinion, it's one of the best classes with one of the best teachers in this school!
✮ virtual hugs
✮ afternoon naps
✮ Poppy Shakespeare -- watched this today; a bit weird in the beginning, but if you ever get the chance to see this, then i definitely recommend it! it's one of the saddest stories with one of my favorite actresses (Naomie Harris AKA Tia Dalma from PotC). i really wish to read the novel now...
✮ it's heartbreaking, but i think that Missing by Evanescence tells such a similar story to Poppy Shakespeare.
✮ IT'S FRIDAY! ~.~
✮ these lovely photos:

✮ Time to be your 21 by Alexz Johnson -- this song reminds me of watching the early seasons of Degrassi. i think there used to be a video about Emma and Sean's older brother Tracker (was that his name?) with this song up on YouTube but it's not there anymore :/

problems with newcomers.

Our principal made us fill out a survey last week, that was made especially for our class. we had to grade our classes from 1-10, 10 being the best, and write down all the problems we had, if we had, in these classes. i think that the reason why our class was chosen (besides the fact that we're newcomers as well this year) was that we have both new teachers (Chemistry and Literature+Estonian).

i must say that the results weren't surprising at all. the "winner" was History, because our classes are funny, educative, interesting, and the teacher doesn't let the students get out of hand and is always in charge, without being dictator-like. i agree with all of this, because she really is a really awesome teacher, who actually gets jokes and isn't afraid to laugh at them and actually tell them sometimes as well. she may tease some students a little, but never in a degrading or an insulting way, and usually what she says is true.

the worst class, or the "loser", was Estonian and Literature. i'm talking about these as one as there is one teacher. the problem with our teacher is that she contradicts herself a lot, doesn't talk about the subject in an understandable way, and doesn't really make it interesting. i gave her a pretty high score, comparing to others (5 for Estonian, 6 for Literature), because i already am interested in linguistics and the history of literature, so it's not that bad, but it's still pretty bad. she has only once graded my test correctly, and other times i've had to tell her that i got a better scoring. maybe she's really bad at math, i don't know, but really, you should actually trust the student that is interested! i once told her that i have more points than she wrote on top of the test, and i had to let my deskmate double check, because she kept telling me, "I counted the points many times." and only after my deskmate had told her that yes, I am right, did she change my grade.
and, if we're already talking about my deskmate, then we can't get around the fact that when we had the presentation of our year papers, then she lied in front of the committee that she'd told my deskmate to correct the mistakes, even though these weren't those mistakes that she'd told her. and yes, maybe it takes time to adapt to a new school, but that's no excuse for lying.

another thing was that there is a guy in our class, who talks during most of our classes, and who makes inappropriate jokes, and who tells GIRLS they're idiots when girls try to tell him calmly to be quiet. i'm not a feminist, but a young man should not tell that to anyone, especially if it's a girl.
what really puts our class to shame is that he is the first person in this school's history to be sent in front of the council because of behavioral issues (it's actually meant for people who have Fs or haven't done many tests or something else like that, that is related to studying and grades).

some people said that they felt like he's not that bad, but he is. he is disturbing most of this class. it isn't just 5-6 people, because then, it wouldn't probably have been discussed openly like this, in front of the whole class. and because of this, i can't really say i feel sorry for him, either. he's brought this down on himself -- the reason i don't really like him is not because "i just don't". it's because he keeps disturbing and annoying me, and sometimes i just want to tell him to shut the hell up, but i am who i am, and i don't say things like that loudly. besides, if he's going to tell me i'm a loser or an idiot, as well, then there really is no point in telling him that.

straight edge without even realizing it?

Straight Edge is a movement that developed in the 1970s and early 1980s, and the purpose of this is to say no to drugs, alcohol, smoking and promiscuous sex. the symbol for this movement is usually the letter "X", which has derived from the marking clubs made on underage teens so that they wouldn't be served alcoholic drinks.

i'm a pastor's daughter. i don't use illegal substances. i'm certain i won't start to drink and/or smoke when i reach the age when i'm allowed to (18 here, even though i disagree with people under the age of 21 drinking (or drinking at all!), but if they want to do stuff to their brains, then they can go ahead). all this means that i was thought of as some nerd or freak when i was in middle school. now that i'm in high school, people just don't really care, but when talking about why i didn't go to this party or that party, then i've heard people say: "Well, yeah, if you don't drink, then you probably wouldn't have had anything to do there, anyway." and all i can think is that the purpose of going to a party should not be to get completely wasted, but to have a good time with your friends.

people tell me that drinking equals having a good time (especially to middle school (ages 11-16; not saying that many people actually start using these substances at the young age of 11; just stating the ages that equal middle school in our education system)), and it just makes no sense to me: how is not remembering anything and feeling sick the next day fun? how is it having a good time?

partying, yes, may include alcohol, and if used reasonably, then it's not that big a of a problem. a few drinks are completely fine, if you are old enough, i agree, because sometimes people just need something that will loosen them up a bit. the purpose of that is to relax a bit and enjoy your evening while hanging out with your friends. the purpose is not the opposite: having a few friends to drink the night away with, because if that is your purpose, then you're not really having a good time with the people around you. you drink and you drink and you stop acting appropriately, and even if you do want to communicate with others, then they probably don't want to communicate with you.

another thing is smoking: why do young people, who should appreciate their life and health and make plans for their future, have the need to start smoking? why do they have the need to be around people who smoke? how can someone who is purposely ruining your health, as well as their own, be someone you call a friend?

we are only humans, i agree with that. we are social creatures, and we have the need to communicate with others; it just is who we are. but that doesn't mean you have to be around people who are not good for you or for your health, only to feel wanted or popular.

i didn't really have friends in my middle school, and it was because of me not wanting to drink and/or smoke, but i have to say that i do not regret it at all. smoking, just like drinking, is not communicating with people. it's doing harm to yourself and to others surrounding you (unless, of course, you're always completely alone when you smoke), but the last time i checked, talking to people & socializing in other ways is supposed to do us good; it's supposed to develop who we are as a person, it's supposed to help us analyze different situations, and so on.

many say that they want to try everything once, and that it's none of other people's business what they do or how they act, but i can't really agree with that, because even one smoke can make you an addict, and even if you try drugs just once, it may have horrible consequences, and if this really happens then it is instantly those business who know you and who care about you. also, if you choose to have promiscuous sex, then that may also have serious consequences, and you'd have to be completely isolated from the society for it to be no one's business.

i didn't choose to be straight edge. i don't think i've ever sat myself down and make a clear decision about using substances, not before realizing that i just don't have the need or want to do any of this, at least. i've never thought, "i'm going to be straight edge now." i'm not like this because of a movement, even though i agree with the movement. i'm like this because i just am. i'm a person who doesn't need substances and sex to define who i am.

what about you?

what i loved today.

✮ it was a sunny day =)
✮ not having 1st class
✮ having the sun wake me up -- so much better than waking up to an alarm clock!
✮ getting a letter which really made my day -- i was seriously considering posting about the things i didn't like today, but then i received the letter and it just filled me with so much happiness & good wishes & love
✮ this post -- absolutely amazing!
✮ discovering a community called the bedroom on lj -- i'm probably going to spend hours looking at all the rooms, wishing mine was as pretty as those are!
✮ these lovely photos:

if only they knew...

you brighten up the world
with your eyes;
and you're so damn lonely...

i've been worried lately, due to some personal issues.
scared, even, because who knows what might still happen.
i think that what i'm most worried about is that the girl i'm worried about will not be communicating with me through internet anymore, even after she's back and getting help.
it's an irrational fear, maybe - one of my other friends said i've nothing to worry about, because she'll understand how much we care, but what if she doesn't?
what if she starts to think the opposite?
i love her, i'm so glad i met her. she's an amazing girl, and has been an incredible friend to me. i need her in my life.
please? i know probably no one knows about this blog (not yet, anyway), but if you've stumbled upon it, please pray and/or hope, depending on what you believe, that she'll get well.
i'm going to keep doing that for as long as needed.

what i loved today.

✮ finding a fellow Manic Street Preachers fan from Estonia!! (i've been waiting and hoping for this, hehe)
✮ walking to school this morning - it was so sunny!
✮ going to a lecture about story-theatre/playback theatre (sorry, most of the English version of the site is under construction!)
✮ getting to miss English, even if it was because of some stupid important lecture about HPV, which, yes, is very, very important, but i knew it already! (i read too many pamphlets i don't actually need to read xD) - nothing against English, but i don't really like our teacher...
✮ finally understanding Physics(!!)
✮ getting three new t-shirts and a new pair of pants - i bought two of the shirts, and my lovely mum bought the last one and the pants =)
✮ discovering Unicorn/Dream Magazine - i'm thinking of sending a dream, but i'm not entirely sure yet...
✮ this lovely photo:

gorgeous Italy.

i was watching antm 10 about an hour ago, and all i could think was:
i miss rome. i miss rome. i miss rome.

i went there during the summer of '06, and stayed for a few days, as it wasn't the main destination of our vacation.
as my dad's a priest and has connections, he was supposed to get the chance to meet the Pope, but for some reason, it didn't work out. still, we got to see many beautiful places (the fountains, Vatican, the forums, etc) and eat delicious food (i tried lasagna and of course pizza as well there, and realized that true Italian food is absolutely amazing).
i can remember one of the nights where we were out and dying for some ice cream, so we went to this ice cream stand, and a bus-full of tourists saw us, and immediately bought some ice cream as well =D

i hope to find some of the photos i took while in Rome on my desktop computer, and if they're any good, then i might actually post them.

what about you? have you ever been to Rome? did you like it there/would you like to visit it?
